HIKE IN PORTES DU SOLEIL
This is a beautiful and at times demanding circular hike of around four hours from Champéry, in the Portes du Soleil. There is a quite a lot of uphill climbing, but we will be rewarded with magnificent views, weather permitting. We will climb around 800m. The terrain is rough at times, but we will be on tracks for the majority of the hike.
The hike will start from the train station at Champéry. We will commence with a short walk along the road towards Grand Paradis, then get onto an undulating uphill forest path, to Bonavau. After a further climb, we will hike under the magnificent Dents du Midi to the Barmaz plains. We will stop here for a picnic. Coffee, cold drinks, ice-creams can be purchased from the Cantine de Barmaz. We will then start our descent back to Champéry.
Length: Around 4 Hours
- Walking boots (and walking poles if you have them)

- Rain jacket

Note: It is usually cooler at altitude (our highest point is 1800m), so an extra layer would be sensible, plus a dry t-shirt to put on at the end of the hike for the journey home.
